Community Action has 2 Food Assistance Programs:

MFP & Senior Commodities

Mobile Food Pantry (MFP):

ommunity Action coordinated two Mobile Food Pantries (MFP’s) in Shawnee County located in Auburn and Rossville through a partnership with Harvesters. When arriving at a Mobile Food Pantry distribution location enter the line of cars waiting for the distribution to start. When moving through the distribution line, volunteers will provide you with a box of food based on the available products provided by Harvesters. Each participant may go through the food distribution line only once per day.

Program Eligibility:

Individuals do not need to enroll or prove eligibility. To participate, go to the location indicated on the Harvester's calendar and enter the line of cars waiting for the distribution to start.

Senior Commodities Program

In partnership with Harvesters, Community Action operates a Senior Commodities Food Distribution program providing one box of food to eligible seniors once per month during the Commodities Distribution Week (last full week of each month). Food Distribution through the Senior Commodities Program is only available to seniors enrolled in the Program.

To get started on the Senior Commodities Program complete the basic intake, once received a Community Action member will contact you to schedule an appointment at the Hancock Center.

Program Eligibility

Capacity & Waitlist:

Harvesters has established a participation cap of 55 enrolled participants for the Senior Commodities Program. If you enroll when Community Action is at full capacity, you will be placed on a waiting list. When there is an opening in the Senior Commodities program, the applicant approved for the longest period of time will be enrolled in the program.

Distribution Locations:

Community Action

Commodity boxes are distributed at the Hancock Center. Delivery can be provided to eligible individuals whom are homebound with a qualifying medical condition.
